Second Baptist Church “William’s House” West Campus
Fulshear, TX
It is with great honor that Axis Builders, along with Kirksey Architecture were given the opportunity to renovate the existing Second Baptist Church West Campus “William’s House”.
During the Houston freeze of 2021 a water pipe ruptured flooding the entire space causing serious damage, rendering the building out of commission and sitting dormant for almost two (2) years.
The Williams House has served the West Campus well since 2003, when Bible Study classes meeting in the Worship Center outgrew that space and needed a new home. The original Williams House (named in honor of Gary Williams, a longtime member of Second and the general contractor for the West Campus construction), addressed that need with four large classrooms and a central gathering space.
The Williams House, named in honor of Gary Williams consisted of large main corridor dividing two (2) large classrooms on the north and two (2) classrooms on the south side of the building. Kirksey Architecture redesigned and reconfigured the existing building layout to allow for a more efficient multi-purpose space accommodating the current and future needs for the Second Baptist Church West Campus family.
The reimagined Williams House now consists of one large Main Event Space creating a multi-functional meeting space. The Main Event Space accommodating seating for more than 500 allows for hosting student events and assemblies, receptions, adult Bible study fellowships, leadership training workshops, and wedding receptions. A new full-service commercial kitchen provides for hosting a variety of programs and community events. Additional spaces include a large storage area, new foyer, a meeting room, bride’s parlor & large women and men’s restrooms.
Architectural elements & features include suspended wood ceilings, custom stained wood trim throughout, carpet & tile flooring, Lutron roller shades, quartz counter tops, acoustical panels, decorative wall coverings & custom fabric banquette seating. A new fire sprinkler system was added to the building along with improvements and upgrades to the mechanical, electrical & plumbing systems. Technology upgrades expand the capabilities of the Williams House to serve groups using the building for worship, fellowship, community events, and educational needs.
