As a community-centric full service general commercial contractor, Axis Builders has been proudly serving the Houston, Texas area since 2012. Both Texas natives and proud Fighting Texas Aggies, our President and Vice President have more than 50 years experience and $1.3 billion in combined building experience.

With adherence to strict safety standards, we ensure that every project site is safe from beginning to end. Quality is the cornerstone of our business as we strive to produce finished projects that will not only meet the needs of our clients but will also stand the test of time. Through the leadership of our Safety Program Manager and our Safety Program Administrator, the emphasis is on the prevention of incidents and injuries. As the General Contractor, we are responsible for the safety of every individual who comes onto one of our jobs. We will never compromise the well being of any person on any project.

Chad Clark

President & Founder

Chad Clark has over twenty years of experience in the construction industry. As President of Axis Builders, he is primarily responsible for business development, pre-construction services, overseeing project management, and estimating. His commitment to integrity, leadership, and building long-term relationships is the driving force behind Axis Builders’ relationship-driven construction approach.

Chad has managed various project types including education, health care, liturgical, tenant finish out, light industrial, retail, athletic, and manufacturing sectors. His experience is vast with projects of all sizes and budgets, as well as various construction methods including cast-in-place concrete, structural steel, wood frame, pre-engineered metal buildings, and pre-cast concrete construction. Chad’s ability to maximize the efficiency of the construction process is one of the skills that sets Axis Builders apart from its competitors.

Chad received his Bachelor of Science in Construction Science from Texas A&M University through the College of Architecture. He is a member of the Association of Former Students, the 12th Man Foundation, and served on the Construction Industry Advisory Council for Texas A&M. Chad also sits on the Board of Directors for the “AGC Houston Chapter” The Associated General Contractors – Houston Chapter and is a lifetime Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo member serving on the Horsepitality Committee.

Chad has a heart for mission work both locally and abroad. He enjoys supporting Hope 4 Honduras by leading mission trips annually to build homes and serve the people of Honduras. Chad also works locally with his church and other non-profit organizations by giving back his time through service and financial support with the resources and talents he was gifted.

Steve Pless has over thirty years of experience in commercial building construction. As Vice President of Operations, Steve is responsible for field operations, construction, quality control, and equipment. His areas of focus include coordination between trades and subcontractors, progress scheduling, and daily job site interactions. Steve is passionate about safety and oversees the implementation and enforcement of the Axis Builders’ safety program and culture.

Steve has managed a variety of commercial project types including LEED® (Silver and Gold) and has a wide scope of construction experience including health care, education, liturgical, athletic, museum, conference, light industrial, tenant improvement, assisted living, hospitality, and parking facility sectors. Steve thrives on challenges and excels at fast-paced, complicated, multi-phased, and occupied campus projects. His direct approach is the propeller behind Axis Builders building with integrity and quality core values.

Steve is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Building Construction and a fellow Corps of Cadets Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band Member. When Steve is not serving at his local church, fishing, or riding his motorcycle you can find him traveling the world drilling water wells for Living Water International, a non-profit organization providing water to the millions of people around the world.
